Colon Commands

Introduction

One of Skylog's goals is to allow the user to move as quickly as possible. This includes minimizing the number of times the user is required to move their hand between the keyboard and the mouse. The colon commands provide short cuts to accomplish various tasks.

Each colon command is listed below along a numbered list of the arguments it needs. The command and its arguments are separated by a forward slash (/). Commands are not case-sensitive. For example, to check in station A1BCD and note that they are at rest stop #1, issue this command:

:ci/a1bcd/rest stop #1

Command reference

:ACK

  1. Message ID of the message to acknowledge
Acknowledge an incoming message so that it no longer appears on your screen.

:AS

  1. Callsign of the station to be put in Assigned status
  2. (optional) New location of the station
If the station is already assigned to an incident, this command changes the station's status back to AS. This is particularly useful if the station was put in On Location status and they should now just be noted as assigned, rather than at a particular location. Note that this command also cancels an In Route status, but emits a different log message than :IRC.

:BAN

Jump to the Banner screen.

:CAN

When on the Edit Incident screen, this command can be used to cancel editing of an incident (keyboard shortcut in lieu of using the Cancel button on the screen).

:CI

  1. Callsign of the station who has checked in
  2. (optional) The location of the station
Set a station to Checked In status.

:CL

  1. ID number of the incident to close
Close an incident

:CO

  1. Callsign of the station who has checked out
  2. (optional) The location of the station
Set a station to Checked Out status. This can be useful for creating stations with known locations in advance of an event.

:CS

  1. Callsign of the station who is calling in
Use this command when a station is calling in. It will bring up the Calling Station screen with a list of incidents and log entries that have mentioned the station.

:DI

  1. (optional) Login name of incident owner's incidents to display
  2. (optional) If this argument is present, display incidents that have been touched by the user
Limit incident summary screen to those incidents owned by or touched by a specific user. Omitting the login name displays all incidents.

:DL

  1. (optional) Login name of log entries to display
Limit log screen to those entries made by a specific user. Omitting the login name displays all log entries.

:DS

  1. (optional) Login name of owner's stations to display
Limit station summary screen to those stations owned by a specific user. Omitting the login name displays all stations.

:EI

  1. ID number of the incident to edit
Edit an incident. This locks the incident so that other users are unable to edit it at the same time. If you don't want to lock it, use :VI instead.

:IR

  1. Callsign of the station to put In Route
  2. (optional) Destination location
Changes the given station to In Route status. If it's assigned to an incident, the destination defaults to the location of the incident.

:IRC

  1. Callsign of the station for whom In Route shall be canceled
  2. (optional) New location of the station
Cancels the In Route status that had been given to the station. The station's location is NOT changed unless a new location is explicitly provided.

:IS

Jump to the Incident Summary screen. (When on the Edit Incident screen, this is effectively a keyboard shortcut for the Hold button.)

:IS

  1. Callsign of the station to put In Service
  2. (optional) The location of the station
Changes the given station to In Service status. If it's assigned to an incident, the assignment is deleted. If a location is supplied, the station's last known location is updated.

:LOG

Jump to the Log screen.

:LU

  1. Callsign of the station to update
  2. The location of the station
Location Update for a station.

:MSG

Jump to the User Messaging screen.

:NI

Create a new incident and jump to the Edit Incident screen.

:OL

  1. Callsign of the station to put On Location
  2. (optional) The location they have arrived at
Changes the given station to On Location status. The user can specify the station's new location. Otherwise, Skylog checks to see if the station was In Route somewhere, followed by whether the station is assigned to an incident.

:PREFS

Jump to the User Preferences screen.

:RE

  1. ID number of the incident to resume editing
Resume editing an incident that was put on hold.

:REPLY

  1. Message ID of the message to which to reply
Reply to the originator of an incoming message.

:SEND

  1. Login name of the message recipient (ALL = Broadcast to all logged-in users)
  2. Text of the message
Send a message to a user or all currently logged-in users.

:SN

  1. Callsign of the station
  2. Text to put in station's note field
Puts a note on the given station. To set the note, provide both the callsign and text arguments. To clear a station's note, only provide the callsign.

:SS

Jump to the Station Summary screen.

:VI

  1. ID number of the incident to view
View an incident read-only. This does not lock the incident, therefore other users can edit it at the same time. To lock and edit the incident, use :EI instead. (Note that if the requested incident was put on hold while it was being edited, an attempt will be made to resume the incident for editing.)
